Lead Us Not Into Damnation… sometimes a stronger “voice” is needed [words]

I wrote this song back in September 2005 (original post on the Myspace blog for my Sybylline project)… one of those inspirations that just flowed out from my inner voice, through my writing (typing) fingers. It came to me as I (and the rest of the world) learned about the extent of the damage and suffering Hurricane Katrina left behind in her wake. I remember trying to make sense of this natural disaster, wondering if Mother Nature was trying to send us a strong, undeniable message.

The poetic imagery I used back then had a much stronger, starker tone. Over the years, I’ve softened that, using a much gentler “voice” to express my thoughts and message… the inspiration that flows through me from a deeper source. I’ve learned much since those earlier days…
about our spiritual essence, the Universe, how our subconscious processes what we take in, etc. – and I continue to learn (as we all do).

But the shocking and tragic event yesterday in Tucson brought this and some of my earlier writings to mind… that and a very provocative, compelling and “unusual love letter to the world” that I read this morning, posted on my friend’s Facebook wall by one of her forward thinking and aware sons.

Sometimes the stronger voice is necessary.

To draw upon what I’ve learned from one of my teachers in his presentation on the Taoist Five Elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water): sometimes a little “metal” is necessary in the current metal-dominated world view in order for the loving, unifying “All Is One” message and consciousness of wood or “tree” energy/essence to be heard beyond those already open to and looking for that message. The call to consciousness, unity and love is a beautiful and much needed message… a vision of hope, a shift that will bring about a wonderful new age for humanity and our planet. But we run the risk of just preaching to the conscious choir, currently in the minority, if we don’t also offer it in terms that the world view majority resonates with… even if it is just to get their attention and open their ears and heart to listen.

This is an important point… For that positive shift to happen, it takes more than just a conscious few… it takes a majority of minds attuned to a new awareness and vision.

There’s nothing like a natural disaster (or a senseless violent event) to bring about thoughts of the consequences of our divisive world view.

Maybe its something we all need to think about. This life is all too short.
