First and foremost…

Give yourself the freedom of recognizing who you are… the unique radiance with which you shine in this world. There is no need to compare yourself – or to be compared – to anyone else… past, present, or future. Your particular light has never existed before and will never exist again. Know and embrace this to the core of your being.

Surrender your need to control…

yourself as well as others. Like a reed in the wind, you can bend without breaking. Just be.

The more important flip side to this is not allowing yourself to be controlled – through the gentle resistance of standing your ground, roots remaining calmly and confidently secure in your fertile soil.

Know that gently standing in your power will reveal others by their reaction…

some who are also actively centering themselves and some who have not yet found their own core “essence”. If they shy away or walk away from you, they may not yet be truly secure in their own being. They will eventually find their footing.

Let them be… and just be you on your own terms.

For those whose reaction is to assert control – either subtly, passively, or through active domination – there is an unconscious fear that there is not enough oxygen to sustain all growing flames; that they – and their light – are not truly “enough”. Centuries of conditioning have created this worldview of lack and scarcity. “Forgive them… they know not what they do.” – wisdom from one of the wisest of all teachers.

Each one will learn to see through this illusion and recognize the real in time.

Let them be… until they learn to see.

“All is One”… but we are each individual manifestations of an aspect of the “One.”

It’s why we came here: not to be reduced to sameness, with no discernible line of demarcation between each, but to each shine in our own individual expression, to experience life as only we can.

Each of us embodies a frequency of light shining through us from The Divine Source… unique manifestations of incandescence that unite to form a beautiful, prismatic, crystalline and synergistic illumination.

Those who are uncomfortable with this have not yet truly found their own individual “light”, the way that they truly shine. They often reveal themselves by their cynicism, sarcasm, jealousy, competitiveness, dismissiveness…
and – ultimately – unhappiness.

Do not let this upset or affect you… know it for what it truly is. This is just a symptom of where they presently are along their path – not yet truly centered in their essence – and not who they are. They have not yet found their own light… if they had, they would be able to openly, comfortably embrace yours.

Two things bring up darkness in other people: your darkness AND your light.

~ Marianne Williamson

Be prepared to experience this from some closest to you… family, friends you grew up with, work with, socialize with. It is easier for many to accept someone’s light from afar than the glow of someone standing right next to them… another symptom of that unconscious fear of a limited supply of oxygen (see above). Seems counter intuitive, but it is ingrained, fed by conditioning… one of the darker facets of human nature.

Our being encompasses darkness as well as light. Denying the existence and manifestation of the “dark” side in yourself and others is like pretending you can see the emperor in full regal attire even though you can see that he is in his birthday suit; afraid to be identified as one who is not yet “enlightened.”

The darkness exists to reveal the light by contrast, however, for some, it has become the easier way, the path of least resistance. It is far easier to sink into the darkness than to climb toward the light… and misery does love company.

Those who succumb to this limiting vision still seek a “leveling”… they do not yet understand that dimming your light will not make their own shine any brighter. They don’t yet realize that the possibilities are indeed endless and infinite. They will with time… in this life or the next.

Let them be… and continue to be as the light you are.

Move at your own speed… not the speed dictated by another.

You alone know the totality of your vision, what you are creating and want to express, and where you are growing to… even if your conscious self does not yet hold all the pieces to the puzzle. All others are outside observers glimpsing just the tip of the iceberg above the water, with the greater part of the whole lying in wait beneath the surface, hidden from view. Like novice springtime gardeners, impatiently watching the seemingly barren planting ground, they may be unable to visualize the tender new shoots germinating just below the layer of topsoil.

Let them be… and just be “you” in your own time.

There are teachers, there are “teachers” and there are Teachers…

The teachers: Everyone you meet in your life is a teacher (including you). In your day-to-day interactions with those around you, you will learn something about them, about yourself, and about life and living. Some will teach you joyful lessons, some will teach you painful lessons. But all will teach you something.

In my youth I started to realize that, seeking truths about the world – I heard lots of interesting truths from so-called spiritual people, but then saw their lives never matched their truths.

~ Bruce Lipton

The “teachers”: There are those who choose an active role in life as a “teacher”… They have cultivated an area of knowledge they feel they can impart to others. Some approach this important role with good intentions and a noble heart, but some who assume a “teachers” role are driven by more egoic reasons – the attraction of being considered an “authority”. Some “teachers” appear at first glance to be among the former, but on closer inspection, we find them among the latter. This is sometimes unintentional on their part – There are some who start off on the noble path but get sidetracked somewhere along the way. Trust your inner wisdom to discern the difference and decide whether a given “teacher” has some valid and important knowledge they can pass on to you… or not.

The Teachers: These are The Ones, The Old Souls, The Enlightened Masters…
these Teachers have developed an intimate understanding of the mysteries of The Universe and have learned and absorbed The Lessons. They have very real, essential, integral wisdom and knowing to pass on to us. Those who are Teachers inhabit many levels of wisdom. Their presence in our lives is rare and treasured, but it happens more often than we recognize. Be open, trust yourself to know, and you will recognize when your path has been graced with a Teacher. You will know when it happens… Heed that inner voice telling you someone you have come across is “different”, “special”, and important… they are. On the flip side, be aware of those who claim to be a Teacher – if they need to “claim” it… well, you know the answer to that one deep within.

Let them be… and learn as you see fit.

Know and embrace the light of those around you…

Fan their flames as you would fan your own. And when you recognize a resonant incandescence, let your glows intertwine, creating a synergistic radiance brighter than the parts to the whole. Let that glow spread with each new light added until all are illuminated.

Ultimately, we are all on a journey, but at different stages along the way. Know that there are others who travel abreast with you, even if they have not yet made themselves known. If you are shining as one for now, do not let that trouble, hinder, or dampen you in any way. Continue on your path and be open to recognizing your companions in travel.

Let them be… and share the synergy.

Membership is not a privilege… nor a necessity.

The need to be on “the inside” is just that… a need… often a manufactured need.
Belonging to an exclusive group, an inner circle, an upper echelon, a chosen few is only possible if there are others who are not accepted or “special”… in other words – excluded.

Is that truly an embodiment of “All Is One”?

Do you need to belong to a “tribe”?

That is a question only you can answer. Tribes can offer a wonderful, synergistic involvement and beneficial sense of community, when they are created for a “pure” reason and approached with good intent… focused on “inclusion”, rather than an elitist hierarchy.

Living a meaningful life is not a popularity contest. Not everyone is going to “get” you, and that’s okay. Everyone is your brother, but not everyone is your tribe.

~ Marianne Williamson

If you desire to connect and share your journey, but have not yet found your ideal travel mate(s), do not let this trouble you. You may not have found your “tribe” yet… or your tribe may not yet be ready for you.

You will… and they will… in time.

Let them be… until you “feel” the camaraderie.

Whatever your chosen mode of travel: Speak your own truth… Stay true to “you”…
the who that you are.

Dance to the beat of a different drum,
in harmony with the moon and sun.
Ever at watch for the resonant ones.
~ Luna Jade

Know that it’s OK to not want or need to be part of “the pack” if it doesn’t resonate for you…

It may be that your path is to embrace many tribes…
including a tribe of one.

Ultimately… Just be YOU.

The rest will follow.

Some of the wisdom Marianne Williamson shared over the past couple of days brought this piece to mind and inspired me to post it.

Keith and I had a blast performing a ukulele version of my song, “One”, at the South Florida Ukulele Festival last weekend. (scroll down for lyrics… I included them at the end of this post.)

ONE – Ukulele performance at the South Florida Uke Fest

Watch the video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmnsUTwhkyk

We also performed a couple of fun uke covers at the festival.

It was pure en-joy-ment on so many levels…

Performing my song live to an appreciative response: We artists love what we create, but it warms our heart when the audience appreciates that little piece of our soul that we share with them. That felt good :)

Performing it as not only the vocalist but also as an instrumentalist: I’m a long-time professional vocalist and songwriter who decided only in the past year to pursue and practice accompanying myself live. It’s not even 6 months since I picked up the ukulele, so this playing while singing thing is still pretty new to me (I’m usually holding the mic… standing, maybe dancing if it’s a grooving song). This definitely took me out of my regular performance comfort zone, but I am very pleased with that first step and I know it won’t take long for it to become another facet of my comfort zone. That felt good, too!

Performing side-by-side with my sweetheart: This isn’t the first time Keith and I have performed together: we’ve played many a gig together before, but with him back behind the drums and me up front behind the mic. This was our first side-by-side performance, where we got to interact, and we loved it! I think we’ll be doing that more often. That felt really good :)

I’m also pleased I made it standing through the 3 songs despite my poor injured left foot throbbing the whole time (I smashed my foot pretty badly on Wednesday, a couple of days before the festival). It was a lovely shade of purple on Saturday, but I was able to wear shoes… although standing while performing kind of pushed it to its limit. But I made it through without grimacing (I think).
The little victories count, too :)

One

words and music by Luna

One World, One Heart, One Soul
We are One.

One life
that sails across a sea of time
One mind
that knows the riddle to the rhyme

One hand
that reaches out to touch another
One word
once spoken is a truth uncovered

pre-chorus:
There’s a secret to
all things under the sun
When the mystery’s revealed
it all comes down to One.

Chorus:
One
is so much more than
One
can mend what’s broken
One light can lead
this world in from the cold

One
can move a mountain
Open up your heart and
love each other, make the pieces whole

One World, One Heart, One Soul
We are One

One eye
that sees beyond a world divided
One voice
to speak for every soul ignited

One love
embracing all who stand together
One heart
is what we share, now and forever

pre-chorus:
We can make a change
for all those yet to come
The only thing we need to learn
is all it takes is One.

Chorus II:
One
is so much more than
One
can mend what’s broken
One light can lead
this world in from the cold

One
can move a mountain
Open up your heart and
love each other make the pieces whole

One
can make a difference
One
can go the distance
One takes your hand
and gives your heart a home.

One
is so much better
One
can if you let it
Open your heart and make you whole

One World, One Heart, One Soul
We are One
